Tunbridge Wells school closes due to ransomware

Written by Simon Heath | Jun 9, 2021

Two schools in Kent have been forced to close due to hackers stealing and encrypting data. It’s a lesson in how disabling and time-consuming such attacks can be. They are working incredibly hard to reopen the schools.

Without vital student information, they decided to close and setup remote learning.

Vital information is being collected again from parents.

They are trying to figure out what information the hackers have access to and asking parents to contact their banks as a precaution.

Computers had to be reconfigured so staff could access teaching materials.

They are working with their data protection specialist and the police. Action Fraud and National Cyber Security Centre are investigating. Find out more here.
