Keep Chrome's bookmark window open

Chrome allows you to bookmark web pages that you want to remember and easily revisit. But when you access one of your bookmark lists and click on a given web page to open it, the bookmark window closes automatically. That can be a pain.

Often, I will bookmark several pages on a given subject as I come across them and add them to a bookmark category. At a later date, when I have more time I will review them in one go, so I want the window with my bookmarks to remain open so I can review them.

To open the Bookmarks Manager in Chome:

  • CTRL + SHIFT + O (that last is the letter "o" for open, and not a zero).

Bookmarks Manager will open in a separate tab. You can then drag that tab to a separate window if you want.

Furthermore, you can use the following techniques to open one or more bookmarked web pages:

  • Double click on a bookmarked web page to open it in a new tab.
  • Select a contiguous range by clicking on the first page and then hold the SHIFT key + click on another page to select both pages and all the ones in between.
  • If you need to open a number of pages not altogether, click the first one and then hold down the CTRL key + click on each individual page.
  • Once you have multiple pages selected you can click on the 3 dots to the right of any page to make your choice to:
    • Open all of them (in the current window).
    • Open all of them in a new window.
    • Open all of them in an Incognito window.
