Hello, and welcome to another Byte-size Bulletin video, by The Final Step.

About 350 billion emails are sent every single day. A lot of emails are quick and easy to write, but then there are the tricky emails – the ones where you’re unsure if your tone will be misinterpreted, or those that need to cover a lot of info.

In this tip, we’ll show you how to compose and adjust emails with Copilot.

First, start a new email in Outlook.

Then, click the "Copilot" option in the ribbon. Then click “Draft with Copilot”.

In this box, type in what you want to say. For this example, let’s say you’re chasing up a distributor for an answer to your question – you’ve been waiting a while, so you want to be direct, but still polite.

Once you’re happy, click "Generate" to draft your email.

As you can see from Copilot’s response, it’s provided a direct yet professional email to send to your distributor. However, if you want to make changes, you can click the "Adjust" option below, to change the tone or length of the email. The email is already direct, but let’s make it just a bit longer here to show we’re serious.

You can also make adjustments via text if there’s anything in particular you want to change – maybe adding your account manager’s name or the issue it is you’re dealing with.

If you make adjustments, but you wish you’d stuck with the original response, rest assured you can cycle through the previous responses generated by Copilot until you find which one you’re happy with.
