Beware of malicious text messages about deliveries

Fake texts are being sent to mobile phones in an attempt to steal your personal data. The text says you have missed a delivery and redirects you to download a “tracking app”. That app in reality is malware intended to steal your private data.

The malware is known as FluBot, pretends to be DHL and targets Android devices. However, be vigilant of the scam evolving to use other brands and target other phones.

The National Cyber Security Centre has issued guidance on recognising the scam in its current form and what to do if you clicked on the link and downloaded the app. It also tells you how to report any text that you feel may be spam.
