A soft security underbelly leaves companies at risk

Cat soft underbelly

Many of us have a soft security underbelly exposing us to risks and wondering what to do.

Smart boards and management teams know security is a priority for 2021. They realise previous protections are insufficient, and it’s not true that small companies are not a target.

You only need to look at this week’s news to realise working out a plan of action is essential.

On Wednesday night, Hertfordshire Uni lost all their IT systems, and the US announced sanctions for Russian cyber attacks.

Unfortunately, it’s easier to ignore or be overwhelmed by the problem than to get a plan together and build the “security-first” mindset that you want. Frameworks such as the National Cyber Security Centre’s Cyber Assessment Framework are helpful but not easy to break down into manageable, pragmatic steps that demonstrate risk reduction for a small business. Contact us if you are looking for a suitable framework and would like to learn more about our cyber security services for small and medium businesses.
